Beverly Johnson – It’s Tough Being a Former Supermodel
Rumor (aka before and after pictures) has it that former supermodel Beverly Johnson has breast implants, cheek implants and had an eye lift. She is also reported to wear a wig. Oh my! Beverly was a model for more than 30 years. She made the cover of American Vogue magazine way back in 1974. She’s been on the cover of more than 500 magazines. She once had elegance about her but that’s long since evaporated these days. I’m afraid to say Beverly is a victim of some bad plastic surgery. She was quoted as saying, “Everyone should have enough money to get plastic surgery.” Well it appears Beverly didn’t have enough to pay for the good plastic surgeon herself.
In our series "What Beauty Means to Me," women from different backgrounds share their thoughts on aging, modern challenges, and of course, their makeup and skin care secrets. This week, we interview Beverly Johnson, who rose to fame as the first African-American model to grace the cover of Vogue magazine.
Despite being a pioneering supermodel and businesswoman, the last thing Beverly Johnson, 59, wanted was for her daughter to follow in her footsteps.
“I never wanted her to be a model,” Johnson told TODAY.com. “I took her first photo at 3 days old in Jet magazine. We’ve been photographed together her whole life, but I never wanted her to go into it as a profession.”
Naturally, her daughter, Anansa Sims Patterson, 33, felt otherwise.
“She graduated high school two years early and she decided at the age of 17 that she didn’t want to continue college and she wanted to model,” Johnson said. “And that was my biggest fear … that she would want to model and she wouldn’t finish school. My fear for modeling is you have to do it at a young age and if you just don’t forfeit your education while doing it, it’s fine.”
While she did leave school to model, Anansa eventually earned her bachelor’s and an MBA and worked as a financial analyst before returning to the industry as a plus-size model. Now pregnant with her second child, she, her husband — former Ohio State defensive lineman David Patterson —and daughter live with Johnson in Palm Springs and were featured this spring on the OWN reality-TV show “Beverly’s Full House.”
Actress and supermodel Beverly Johnson is truly a big fan of the plastic surgery who has had a cheek implants, breast implants and an eyelift surgery. She openly admits to having these procedures and she is proud of what she has been doing with her body. She even says that everybody should have some adequate amount in his/her hand so that he could change some parts of his body according to his own desire. All of these reports about her are 100% correct and true and they can’t be wrong because the actress herself has approved them.
During on various occasions, she has spoken in favor of plastic surgery. She is amongst those few people of the plastic surgery who openly admit of having experienced some of the cosmetic procedures and they also advise others as well to experience them if they want to. They say these procedures are actually made for us because we are the people who belong to the showbiz business and to look beautiful is necessary for us.
On the other hand, there are many other people as well who are severely against these procedures and they say the surgical procedures should be banned for the Hollywood people. They are of the point of view that the actress and models should have natural beauty. Those who adopt beauty artificially are actually the liars as they are lying to their fans about their beauty. When people see these actress and models in the films and magazines, they think they are really beautiful in their real lives as well, but unfortunately the reality is else.
